Over the years, I’ve shot a lot of photos at Union Cemetery. Most of the old headstones were made from sandstone and they have not stood the test of time. Sandstone is a very soft sedimentary stone and it is a poor match for Calgary’s climate. These photos were taken with LomoChrome Purple film and the damage to the headstones is easy to see.
