Shooting Valca Film

I like shooting rare and expired film. I like it when I discover an old film that not only still produces good results, but also has a unique look or color palette. These are from a roll of Valca Grano Fino Positiva cinematic film that I purchased from Labeauratoire. Since Valca has a recommended ISO […]
Toy Trucks

My wife gave me a Lab-Box for Christmas this year and I’ve started developing my own film. These were developed using Rodinal (or Blazinal as it is branded here in Canada).
Wandering Heritage Park

Heritage Park is one of those places where there is lots to see and photograph. Over the years, I have managed to shoot many rolls of film there. I believe this is the first roll of Velvia 100 that I ever cross-processed and, once I saw the results, I instantly fell in love with the […]
Rundle Ruins Model Shoot

A while back, I participated in a model shoot at Rundle Ruins. I shot both film and digital, and as the sun set and the light faded, it made film photography challenging. Many photos were underexposed. Thankfully, these photos of Dana turned out quite well.
Shooting Ferrania Solaris FG 100

When I was in Hong Kong, I picked up a roll of Ferrania Solaris FG 100 and some other film at Showa. Showa is a film and camera store with a pretty decent selection of film. It was one of two film stores I visited in Hong Kong (the other isn’t worth mentioning). Autumn is […]
Screen Time Part 2

I’ve been rather disappointed with the results I get from Rollei film. Rollei Blackbird did little to change that. These were some of the best from the roll. On another note: Rollei Blackbird is the 100th film I’ve posted to Going Lomo.
Downtown Model Shoot

These are from a photography workshop I took a few years ago shooting models downtown.
Quidditch

One Sunday after brunch, Sarah and I stumbled into the poorly-attended Fantasy Faire festival in Kensington. The now-defunct Fantasy Faire was the unsuccessful rebrand of Kensington’s Harry Potter Festival after Universal Studios sent cease & desist letters to unlicensed Harry Potter-themed festivals around the world. These photos are from a quidditch match put on by […]
Skyline Luge

On my first trip to New Zealand, Sarah took me to Skyline Luge in Rotorua. It was my first time downhill karting and we had a lot of fun that day. Sarah grew up in Rotorua so imagine her surprise when she discovered that Skyline Luge was also here in Calgary at COP. You can’t […]
Ralph Klein Park

Sarah & I spent an afternoon wandering around Ralph Klein Park. Even though Kodak UltraMax film is considered to be ‘consumer’ film, I quite like its color palette. I was happy with the way these turned out.
Scarecrow at Angel’s Cafe

I shot this one weekend outside Angel’s Cafe before taking a photowalk in Edworthy Park.
Screen Time

These were shot using my Ikimono Flash 110 camera by Superheadz. Sadly, this camera has a significant flaw. It often fails to stop on the next frame when advancing frames after a shot thereby skipping frames and wasting film.
Trip 35 Studio Test

I recently bought an inexpensive hot shoe to PC sync adapter that allows me to use many of my film cameras with my studio strobes. I made Sarah pose for me while I tested it with my Olympus Trip 35 and took this photo.
Getting Married

Sarah and I are getting married today. We met two years ago while travelling and have been inseparable ever since. I love her dearly and am happy to spend the rest of my life with her.
Fun with Fukkatsu

These were shot using the FPP’s new Fukkatsu B&W 100 film for 110 cameras! The scratches are on the negative and I suspect it happened in camera.
