I took these photos in Gasoline Alley Museum at Heritage Park. The lighting wasn’t bright enough for a handheld shot, so I had to place my camera on anything nearby (a railing, a table, etc) in order to take a photo.
I shot these photos on a walk through what was once known as ‘Rouleauville’, a Francophone settlement in the late 1800’s that was eventually annexed in 1907 by the city of Calgary as it grew.
Here are a few photos shot at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. Sadly, there are no birds in the photos, but you can see the historic home of Colonel James Walker in the background.
These photos were shot on FPP InfraChrome Color Infrared 400. I bought this roll back in 2016 and kept it in my freezer for a few years before I finally shot it around Calgary. I used a Tiffen #12 yellow filter to achieve the infrared color effect. Most of these photos were shot at ISO […]
I shot these photos in Ralph Klein Park. The first two photos feature an art installation called Hawk Hill Calgary Sentinels designed by artist Beverly Pepper. Three monoliths rise above two mounds shaped like pyramids meant to “herald the uniqueness of the wetlands”. The last three photos are of the Environmental Education Centre.
These photos are from Canada Day in 2022. While this wasn’t exactly what I was expecting when I loaded my camera with Dubblefilm Apollo 200, I do quite like the look of the colors this film gave me.
This wasn’t what I was expecting when I shot Dubblefilm Apollo 200. Then again, I don’t know what I was expecting. This is the thing about shooting experimental, pre-flashed films. Even if the manufacturing process yielded a consistent result (which it doesn’t), there are still too many variables from lighting conditions to scanning to give […]
I photographed this truck and tractor at the Calgary Corn Maze & Farm. It was a beautiful bright day and we had the place to ourselves. I was shooting Flic Film Elektra 100 film that day. Elektra 100 is respooled Kodak Aerocolor IV film which was designed as an aerial film. I really like the […]
Back in June, I bought an Olympus XA2 for a very good price. When it arrived, it looked to be in mint condition. I loaded a roll of film and started shooting. Soon after, I noticed that something was off. The shutter speed didn’t sound right to me. The more I shot, the more the […]
I’ve decided that I quite like the way Dubblefilm Bubblegum 200 renders color. As the Dubblefilm website says, it’s “tinted with sweet tones” from a “pinkish vibe” to “deep magenta in the shadows”. It’s the subtlety of the tones that I appreciate. I don’t want a large color shift, just a pleasing warmth.
After waiting 18 months for my Orwo film to arrive, here are my first photos from Orwo Wolfen NC500. I’m a little disappointed that the colors didn’t turn out as virbrant as they look in Orwo’s examples, but the lighting conditions probably played a part in that (I shot this ISO 400 film on a […]
I snapped these photos of the Calgary Police at two separate events. The first is from Lilac Festival while the last two are from Canada Day. Calgary is very proud of its western roots which can be seen in the cowboy hats the officers are wearing. (Many police departments use horses, so that isn’t specific […]
I wasn’t sure how these photos would turn out given the age of the film; this roll of Perutz PR 200 expired in 1992. Assuming I would need to compensate for the film’s age by adding one stop for every decade past expiration, I estimated that I should shoot this roll at ISO 25. All […]
